G'day. I'm Steven.

I help small business owners work out what should be running without them, and then build it. Mostly with GoHighLevel and AI, sometimes with neither. I'm a 14x GHL Certified Admin, I built and sold an agency, and I've done over 7,000 sales calls with agency owners. So I've heard every version of "we bought the software and nothing changed."

I hated school, so I left for an apprenticeship and became a chef. Cooked all over Australia, then Switzerland, Austria, Germany and London. My back gave out from years on hard kitchen floors, so I moved into running pubs. Then the high rollers room at Crown Casino in Melbourne. Then selling Indian wine into Australia, which is where I actually learned to sell. Every door got slammed, and I got good at the second conversation.

The wine company needed a website, so I built one. That led to chatbots. Then COVID hit, I couldn't go to work, and I drove Uber at night while Jo worked extra shifts in a job she hated to support my GHL habit. It was a team effort.

That habit turned into Contact Owl. We grew it to 156 sub-accounts with no niche and one snapshot, then I sold it. After that I spent a few years on sales calls with agency owners, over 7,000 of them, and turned what I learned into a book, You're Selling AI Wrong.

Jo's English, which is how an Aussie ends up here. The plan was a double decker bus round Europe. Brexit sort of killed that, so a narrowboat it was. Alchemy is home now, with Jo and our dog Willow, who's a professional sleeper. Starlink keeps the business running from wherever we're moored, and it means I can watch every Collingwood game live.
